Health Tip: Head Inside When Lightning is Near

(HealthDay News) -- Being inside is the safest place during a lightning storm. The U.S. National Weather Service warns that no place outside is safe from one of nature's number one killers.

Even inside, the agency says, you should follow these precautions:

  • Do not use electrical equipment such as desktop computers or corded phones.
  • Stay away from baths, sinks, faucets and plumbing.
  • Stay off the porch, and away from doors and windows.
  • Don't lean against concrete walls or lie on concrete floors.
