Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene protects and promotes the health of the public by creating healthy people in healthy communities. The department strengthens partnerships between the state and local governments, the business community, and all of the health care providers in Maryland. It also builds a world class and professional organization grounded in the principles of quality, accountability, cultural sensitivity, and efficiency.
