Recipes: Mild Barbecue Sauce

Mild Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 8-oz cans tomato sauce
  • 3 drops hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/8 tsp allspice
  • 1/8 tsp celery seed
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp sugar substitute

Directions

In a small saucepan, combine all the ingredients except the sugar substitute. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Cool and add the sugar substitute.

Place the barbecue sauce in a covered container and refrigerate overnight to allow the flavor to develop.
