Summary:
In the past, the efforts of dedicated clinicians and researchers have contributed to significant progress in the treatment of eating disorders. Currently, a great deal is known about the qualitative aspects of treatment that promote recovery, as well as specific evidence-based interventions that similarly tend to enhance healing. By now it is clear that successful treatment must encompass both the art and science of eating disorders treatment.
The task ahead is perhaps less a search for major new breakthroughs and more a determined pursuit of refinement and integration. The 2009 Renfrew Center Foundation Conference is devoted to exploring how to make more effective use of what we already know.
