Nipple Pain Went Away

Breastfeeding is a wonderful time for mother and baby to bond. I had a really close friend tell me to breastfeed for at least 30 days and, after that, if I couldn’t take it, at least my baby got a full month of my milk. I’m going to tell you, it really hurt. My nipples were bleeding and cracking. I would have to switch breasts every few days because they hurt; one day I would only nurse on the left side and give her formula when I didn’t have enough milk in that breast and I would switch in two days. As I was waiting on my 30th day to come, it stopped hurting altogether on the 27th day. No more bleeding, cracking, or soreness. It was great and I was able to nurse my baby for 7 months. I was so grateful that I took my friend’s advice. If I hadn’t, I would have given up probably after the first week. Give it 30 days – you have nothing to lose and your baby has so much to gain.
