Acting Director, Division of Policy and Performance Management

Lisa Begg is currently serving as Senior Scientist and Acting Director of the Division of Policy and Performance Management (DPPM), in the Office on Women’s Health (OWH), while on a detail from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She has over 13 years of federal experience in women’s health and sex differences research. Prior to joining NIH, Dr. Begg had a 25-year academic career as a cancer epidemiologist and nurse, and she has established a competitive cancer control research program.

Dr. Begg oversees the development of evidence-based policy recommendations that help guide OWH's strategic planning. She also evaluates key program areas. DPPM staff works with other key offices across HHS to help translate research results into public health and patient care practices and policies that benefit women, girls, and their families.

Dr. Begg holds a Dr.P.H. in epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh; an M.P.H. in epidemiology from the University of California, Los Angeles; an M.S. in nursing from the University of California, San Francisco; and a B.S.N. from Boston College.
